Controversy Erupts Over Trump ‘s Ear Injury continues. Earlier, FBI Director Christopher Wray said that “there is some doubt as to whether it was a bullet or shrapnel.”
“What struck the former president in the ear was a bullet, either intact or fragmented, fired from the deceased’s rifle,” the FBI said in a statement.
The statement came two days after FBI Director Christopher Wray said another: “There is some doubt as to whether it was a bullet or shrapnel that struck him in the ear.”
Wray said that the investigation into the assassination attempt on former American president is ongoing.
What happened to Trump
Recall that on July 13, during campaign rallies, an attempt was made on the former American president.
The shooter, identified as Thomas Crooks, 20, was shot dead. However, as a result of this incident, one spectator died and two others were seriously injured.
Reaction
The director’s comments provoked a wide negative reaction from former American president. He, in turn, claimed that it was the bullet that wounded him.
No medical evidence of his treatment has been released. However, his campaign previously released a recording on July 20 from former White House physician Ronny Jackson. In it, he wrote that he had examined and treated Trump’s wound “daily” since the shooting. That Trump “suffered a gunshot wound to the right ear.”
Speaker of the House Mike Johnson also criticized the FBI director’s statements.
“We’ve all seen the video, we’ve seen the analysis, we’ve heard from multiple sources from multiple angles that the bullet went through his ear. I’m not sure that’s all that important.”
Senator Lindsey Graham wrote a letter to Wray urging him to formally state that “the attempted assassin’s bullet tore off the top” of Trump’s ear and that “there should be no debate.”
